Find The Best Skin Lotion For Dry Skin
With cold weather season upon us, finding the best dry skin lotion or
skin moisturizer
can bring welcome relief to dry itchy skin. As the temperature and humidity drop or skin is robbed and depleted of natural oils and hydration that keeps skin soft and supple.
Replenishing moisture is the key to reducing flaking, itching and irritation. Finding the best dry skin lotion requires understanding the active ingredients that not only soothes dryness but renews skin cell rejuvenation and eliminates cracking and inflammation.
What Causes Dry Skin?
Dermal layers rely on several natural compounds to maintain smoothness and elasticity. Associated with all pores are sebaceous glands that produce sebum (skin oil). Is it safe to use my Vaseline aloe fresh hydrating body lotion on my dogs body?
I have an English cocker spaniel and she has dry skin issues. We have her bathed with Oatmeal shampoo but she still gets a bit dry and scratches a lot. No fleas are present and I comb and brush her daily.
My first question is what do you feed her as is is likely that some food allergies are the cause of her itchy skin. Lower quality dog foods (note I did not say CHEAP as some more costly foods are not good ingredients for dogs) have mostly grains that can be problematic for dogs, in particular, corn. Check www.dogfoodanalysis.com and choose a quality food for your dog, one that has fewer ingredients and different from what you are feeding now. If you say, feed a kibble that has corn and chicken, try lamb and rice or duck and potato. Allow 3 to 6 weeks to see the effect.
You might also get some salmon oil supplement and add to her food to help the dry skin, olive oil would be good too. Don't bathe her more than every two weeks, to keep the natural oils in her coat.
