What's the best moisturiser for oily skin?

To answer this question, let's first think about what we mean by moisturiser. Standard skincare routine tells us to cleanse and moisturise. But what this really amounts to is a two-step process aimed at cleaning and conditioning your skin.

Lesley Alkin, founder of Super Natural Organic Skincare, prefers not to talk about moisturising. She says the term is misleading as most so-called moisturising products only work on the outermost skin layers. Their effects are temporary and may even upset your skin's delicate balance. Rule number one: Avoid harsh cleansers, lotions and creams
So many products aimed at people with oily skin are designed to remove the excess oil. While that might seem the right approach, it's actually precisely the opposite of what the skin needs. Stripping the skin of its natural oils upsets it big time. The human body is a master at self-healing and what happens when you go to town on removing the skin's oil is the skin's oil factory kicks into overdrive. You've started a battle you cannot win: you and those chemical cleansers trying to degrease your skin. Your body's inbuilt balancing act going great guns pumping extra oil in to make up for the loss.

Using cotton wool pads, lightly wipe your face with the cleansing milk, then rinse off with lukewarm  water. Pat your skin completely dry. Use an oil-based 'moisturiser' not a water-based one
